I have done a little early spring-cleaning tonight with the member list. If you did not notice, we have gone from having 3,778 members down to 1055 members (unless more have joined since this posting).
All members who have not logged since October 1, 2003 have been deleted. Any member who did not follow instructions in the member prerequisite also have been removed. If you have come here to find your membership deleted, then you will have to go through the sign up process again.
Upon going through the member profiles, I found some things that were very disturbing or just plain aggravating to me. Unbelievably, one member posted an entire html source code from a geocities site for midi files in his profile. Now, what ever for? Another member posted a three paragraph question on vampirism that belonged in the forum. Other things such as “Don’t f**k with me, I’ll rip your throat out”, “Don’t talk to me, I don’t want to be bothered”, and “Hi I am here looking for a vampire to take me away from my problems, plz plz plz plz come take me, I am beggin you. I hate life!”, “Hi come visit my website I need members to make a coven” “hey, I’m lonely pm me or send a email cuz I am not hardly here”.
If you do not want anyone to talk to you, then why did you even bother to become a member here in the first place? If you like the site, you can still browse it without feeling obligated to speak to anyone, just don't apply for membership. It's that simple. After all, this is a interactive COMMUNITY site. Meaning, you have the ability as a member to interact with other members in the community here. That's what the provided membership privilege is all about. Placing this "Do not talk to me" attitude all over your profile is just brainless nonsense.
And the foul language, it's not necessary to place vulgarity all over your profile. Have some manners and act respectfully. It certainly doesn't reflect well on your first impression with me and I safely assume that it will not with others as well. Presenting yourself in a "lady" or "gentleman" fashion will take you alot further and speak more highly of your character. To be more frank, I don't want to see it anymore. Darkness Embraced is not a angsty teen or ghetto site, do not treat it or it's members as such.
The profile section is not a place for you to place introductions to a novel you are writing. We have a fiction program dedicated to nothing but that.
The profile section is not a place for your personal ads, we have a personal ad section for that.
The profile section is not a place for you to beg and plead like a babbling idiot for some fictitious character from Queen of the Damned to come along and end your suffering because you hate life. Considering that you are aiming for the whole immortality route, I need to ask a question. Let's say that there was such a thing as an immortal vampire, if you hate life so much, tell me, how would you deal with eternity? Seems like a redundant quest to me. Get it through that little pea size brain that there are no such things as immortal vampires! All you are asking for is some stinky, toothless, dimented sicko to take advantage of your gulibility. You don't think it's happened? Then you better think twice. Just because you are on the internet doesn't make you safe, ask that one teen in Colorado that was abducted from her home from a internet stalker. She is lucky enough to talk about it, you on the other hand, may not be that fortunate. If you hate life, then perhaps you are suffering from depression. Seek professional help and get happy pills! Then, maybe you will begin to like life again.
The member profiles is not billboard advertisement for your site, you are supplied with a place to enter in your website information, that is enough. There are also other areas on the site (weblinks, and shameless plugs in the forum) where you can place your link.
What the member profile area is for is a brief introduction to you, what your hobbies are, regional area that you live in, books, movies, music you like, etc. In addition, When I say I don’t want to see “i”, "ur" "cuz", "u" and other internet gibberish on my site, I damn well mean it. If I see this on your profile, I am removing it. Moreover, God help you if you put it right back without correction. I will toss you off this site in a heart beat. I have said it many times before, and I will say it again: Quality over quantity.
If your member name has been deleted in error, then please try signing up again. If you are having difficulty, know that character maps and symbols such as ~ * [] ( ) xxx = ^ have been disabled. For database reasons, it is no longer allowed.
If you are not using any of the above characters and are still having difficulty, please contact me and I will get things working for you.
