Earlier today, there were a few poems that were deleted from the forums. I discourage this in the forums and ask everyone to please use the fictioneer program that we have. It does work except for a few isolated cases from what I have seen.

I do not want to see any "slit my wrist" type of poetry or writings here. It's depressing as hell to me to even have to look at. This site, although open to alot of the shadow self, is not about rolling around in misery, death, self injury, or "us against them" metality. It's this exact type of stereotype that we, as a community, have been working desperately hard to shed. It's about over coming these things, seeking solutions, becoming a better person, spiritual evolvement, gaining self confidence, self control, and learning to cope and enjoy life as we ought to.

There have been days where I have logged on here and read some of the submissions that even made me want to run screaming for the razor blades.. I am sorry, but I can no longer put myself through that, let alone the rest of the members here. It's not like these submissions are about a fictitious character, or a poem of what an immortal vampire may feel with a first person touch, they are about your angst and misery in first person.. like a journal entry! That is not poetic, nor does it make for a interesting story. I hate to burst your bubble, but it stinks. I have made it clear in that submission area that I won't approve such writings. I have also made it clear that internet cell phone text speech is not permitted. This has also been covered in previous announcements and has been stated in the Site Guidelines. So, if you post or submit anything related to the above.. it's gone. Period.

I agree wholeheartedly. Though I find that writing such poems can be theraputic, I know it's not as fun to read as it is to write. Reading the depressing ramblings of a preturbed mind isn't as enjoyable as the authors of the poems believe them to be.

See, I agree with this 100 percent. There is an area for writings and poetry. I have just not said anything about it in the posts. And I agree, that some writings just should not be submitted, but if they are not real bad, I dont see it as a problem if they put it in the 18 and over section. I agree it can be therapeutic, but maybe these types of writing should be isolated to the person writing them.

I am a writer by heart. I write fiction/ non fiction. I like to write vampire short stories, and sometimes they are referred to as immortal. But I see these as fun and games, And I agree with Larae.

This is just my humble opinion...

I, too, agree. And, although I am new and my opinion may not count for much, I am wholeheartedly for banning the submissions with chat text in them. We all make typos from time to time, but lets keep away from chat lingo, it's simply a sign of laziness and indicative of our disgusting fast-food, M-TV world, which is creating obese ADHD children and adults... Bravo to Larae for helping to curb the tide (at least in this one little area). Additionally, I agree with keeping the overly depressing/suicidal writings out. They can be therapeutic, but I'm not wanting to read the perturbed thoughts of others, (unless they are beautifully and objectively written).

Any way, there's my two cents.

Eternally Lost,

Cyril

I agree as well, reading suicidal thoughts is just depressing and add to the stereotypes which no one likes

I agree up to some point. It is not needed to post depressing/suicidal poems or stories on a forum, but not all poems about suicide are bad. Some can actually be quite beautiful. But if they should be placed at all (I am in no place to judge whether they should be placed or not), they should be placed in a section. That way, the ones that do not wish to read or see these poems or storeis will not be bothered by them.

I am aware of the fact that I am new, and thus my opinion is of small or no importance.

I can understand what you are saying to a degree NightmareVision. However, if I accept one form of it, I have to accept it all without prejudice. This leads to nothing but arguments and a long amount of wasted time that I then must debate with the author of the rejected works. It's entirely a large enough job screening each one let alone all the explanations of why this and that is not acceptable. Suicide has absolutely nothing to do with vampirism, witchcraft, the occult, or the paranormal and such writings have no place here at all. I would like to stick to what the purpose of this site is, and suicide, angst and depression doesn't fit into the equation of spiritual evolvement and positive growth that I want Darkness Embraced to be. So no matter what.. no suicidal, bleeding/slashing wrist angsty poetry. There are thousands of places for one to place such things on the internet if that is their forte.

Banging Head I think I did a bit of poetry... perhaps in the wrong area... if I did... I am very sorry and I will be more cautious from here on. In my defence, I never write of self mutilation or such things. But if I have offended anyone.... I am truly sorry.

I don't know any myself, but if someone does, it'd be good to provide some online outlets where personal experiences and expression and poetry related to angst, suicide, etc. are welcomed.

So, instead of just saying to not do it here, which is perfectly understandable, provide some alternatives.

Most any blog one starts, being one's own, can have any amount of suicidal, angsty, etc. work one wants. Or you're welcome to give sites for others to go to, prander. I, personally, have never found any lack of sites which welcome, allow or encourage it.
